The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the Chicago police investigators in the search for Jennifer Hudson’s missing nephew. The 7-year-old Julian King went missing on Friday, the same day the singer’s family was murdered.
Chicago police officials asked the FBI on Saturday to help them in the investigation and search related to the murder of Hudson’s family. Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother were found dead inside her childhood home on Friday. They were both gunned down.
The Oscar-winning actress’ nephew went missing the same day his grandmother Darnell Donerson, 57, and uncle Jason Hudson, 29, were found shot dead in their South Side home. The reason why the FBI was asked to collaborate in the search for the 7-year-old kid is that he might be taken across state lines.
The kid’s mother, Julia Hudson, asked whoever kidnapped her son to “let my baby go.” She was accompanied by the boy’s father when she released the statement.
Chicago police spokesman Daniel O'Brien did not confirm the various media reports according to which William Balfour, who had had a relationship with Julia Hudson, was taken into custody and is the prime suspect. According to the man’s mother, he had nothing to do with the slayings of the two. Balfour was convicted of attempted murder, car theft and vehicular hijacking and served about 7 years in prison for his deeds, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.
Police investigators did question some persons in connection with the crimes, but no one was charged, O’Brien said. He didn’t give names.
