Although Apple CEO Steve Jobs isn’t expected to be giving the keynote address during next week’s Macworld Conference & Expo, most analysts are expecting the introduction of several evolutionary products from the Cupertino, Calif.-based company.
The expectations were very well summarized by Michael Gartenberg, vice president of market research firm JupiterMedia and editor of the MobileDevicesToday blog. Mr. Gartenberg said that we won’t see some revolutionary products, but Apple will most likely introduce some “evolutionary” products.
However, there are some industry analysts who maintain that Steve Jobs will probably take advantage of the huge suspense surrounding Macworld Expo 2009 (the last Apple attends) and will deliver a huge surprise.
Of course, the company’s PR announced in mid December that the keynote will be delivered by senior vice president Phil Schiller and not Jobs. But what if this is a trick?
It’s a bit hard to believe that Apple will not take advantage and maintain some excitement around the keynote. The company will most likely have some “substantive announcements” at the keynote, as Ross Rubin, director of analysis at NPD Group, said.
A revolutionary product would have to be something like the iPhone was when introduced, or a new type of iPod. If not, Apple would probably use the opportunity to release some important, evolutionary updates of the Mac community.
One of the company’s possible new products could be a new version of Apple’s iMac, who kind of got old and certainly needs some refreshing.
