Eva Mendes found no humor in a reporter’s attempt at a joke
regarding substance abuse, calling his quip, that Alcoholics Anonymous should
be called Alcoholics Unanimous, “tacky,” reports usmagazine.com.
Eva Mendes was being interviewed by a reporter for Interview
magazine but the topic of substance abuse was not one she would joke about.
So when the uninspired reporter quipped that Alcoholics
Anonymous should be instead named Alcoholics Unanimous, Eva Mendes replied that
she found the joke “tacky.”
“People die from this stuff,” she says in the interview
which hits newsstands next week. “So, honestly, I think it’s a bit tacky that
you made a joke. I’ve got to be honest.”
The reporter was not so discreetly alluding to the actress’s
own visit to a rehabilitation center, back in February. Her rep told People.com
at the time tat the past year had been a busy one for Eva Mendes and that she
had decided this was a good time to take a break and “attend to some personal
issues.”
Calling the break “much-needed,” her rep explained that the
personal issues she wanted to deal with were not “critical” but she felt they “deserved
some outside professional support.”
He declined to elaborate further on the problem the actress
is dealing with.
As far as her own trip to the famous Cirque Lodge in Utah goes, Eva Mendes
said there were “so many lies out there” but that she does not care what people
think. “I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care. So I will neither
confirm nor deny.”
She also commented that it is better when the reports
published are false, because that gives her a sense of privacy.
