Paris - Euro Disney SCA, the parent company of Euro Disney Associes, which runs the Paris Disneyland, on Tuesday reported its first-ever profits, for the fiscal year 2008.
Profits for the fiscal year ending September 30 ran to 1.7 million euros (2.29 million dollars), the company said in a press statement. This followed losses of 41.7 million euros in 2007.
Turnover rose by 9 per cent, to 1.33 billion euros, driven primarily by increased theme park attendance and hotel occupancy rates.
According to Euro Disney chief Philippe Gas, "We reached an important milestone in 2008 by achieving profitability. Our revenues, theme parks attendance and hotel occupancy contributed to our performance, which is noteworthy given the economic environment."
On August 12, Paris Disneyland announced its 200 millionth visitor since opening its doors in 1992.
