Etta James Threatens Beyonce For Singing Her Song

Forget all that praise Beyonce got from Etta James a few months back for portraying her in “Cadillac Records,” the 71-year-old diva trashed Beyonce for performing her song “At Last” at President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

During a recent concert in Seattle, the soul singer launched herself in a tirade against both the “Single Ladies” and America’s president.

“You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears?” the singer can be heard on a recording obtained and leaked by celebrity gossip website TMZ.com.

“Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he ain't my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song — she's going to get her a—whipped,” added the singer, who has made the smoldering ballad “At Last” her signature song since it became a hit for her in 1961.

Beyonce performed “At Last” for Barack and Michelle Obama for the couple’s first dance as first couple at the Neighborhood Ball. The couple shared a tender moment on stage as the singer held back tears.

She then continued, “The great Beyonce. I can't stand Beyonce. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, singing my song that I've been singing forever.”

While there is still no response from Beyonce’s camp, this isn’t the first time the singer has stepped on divaceous toes. The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin famously blasted Beyonce last year after she referred to Tina Turner as “the Queen” during the Grammy Awards ceremony.
