Etta James Lashes out at Beyonce

Last week during a concert, Etta James did not pass on the opportunity to voice her opinions about Beyonce, after she had previously praised the singer for her portrayal of her in the movie “Cadillac Records.”

Only this time, Etta James did not have nice things to say about Beyonce, stating that she couldn’t stand the singer, mainly because the latter sang “At Last” at the inaugural ball.

The song, which has become James’ signature tune ever since it turned out a major hit back in 1961, even though the 71-year-old singer was not the first to perform it, was performed by Beyonce for president of the United States Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama’s first dance at the Neighborhood Ball two weeks ago.

Without no apparent reason, that fact really made Etta James angry and pushed her to verbally lash out at Beyonce during a show at Seattle's Paramount Theatre, which was held on January 28.

At the concert, James took some shots at Obama, too, telling the audience that he wasn’t her president, while speaking of Beyonce, Etta said that she had had no business singing her song at the inaugural ball.

Beyonce came into much critical acclaim for her portrayal of Etta James in „Cadillac Records” and she has performed „At Last” for several times since the movie debuted, including one time even in front of James who at that time did no show any signs of having been annoyed by the singer’s rendition of her song.

Last year, at the Grammy Awards, Beyonce managed to upset another iconic figure, when Aretha Franklin slammed the singer for having introduced Tina Turner as the „queen,” which is a title that Franklin has long claimed as hers.
