Actor Ethan Hawke and wife Ryan Shawhughes welcomed their first child together, daughter Clementine Jane Hawke, Friday in New York City.

Clementine Jane Hawke, born on Friday, July 18, in New York City, is Ethan Hawke’s first child with Ryan Shawhughes. He and Shawhughes, who was nanny while he was married to Uma Thurman, married in June.

Ethan Hawke is father already to daughter Maya, 10, and son Levon, 6, with actress Uma Thurman.

Upon news of the pregnancy, Hawke’s rep Mara Buxbaum said, “I can confirm and they are thrilled. No further details will be made available.”

Details were indeed not provided, as the couple has been very discreet about their relationship. People magazine only confirmed their wedding three weeks after the happy event had occurred.

Eh and Thurman divorced in 2004, after seven years of marriage, but have maintained a close relationship according to their accounts. In December 2006, the actor told Parade magazine that he and his former wife live down the street from each other and that they have “each other’s back” when it comes to raising their children.

He also called Maya and Levon “the greatest pleasure in my life” and said fatherhood is “the only role that, if I fail, I will consider my life a failure.”

People magazine quotes “a close family member” saying about Ethan Hawke and Ryan Shawhughes: “I expect that they should be very good parents. They both love children, and they love each other ... I know they are thrilled.”
