Esquire, one of America’s most famous magazines, will be celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. In order to make the event even more special, October’s issue will become the first magazine ever to use one of the latest digital technology breakthroughs: electronic paper.
For completing this very ambitious project, Esquire is working alongside Ford Flex Crossover and E Ink Corporation, currently the biggest electronic paper display (EPD) technology supplier in the world.
By using the E Ink Vizplex(TM) flexible display technology, Ford will present its enthusiastically expected Ford Flex on one of the inside covers.
David Granger, Esquire editor-in-chief, said this cover has been worked on for over 16 months as the team’s intention is to show that the 21st century commences this fall. He went on to say that the entire issue will in fact be devoted to the exploration of "the ideas, people and issues" on which the 21st century will be built on.
Once the October issue is out, readers will be able to see the information, articles and photos, scroll across the electronic paper display.
Jim Farley, Ford's Group Vice President of Marketing and Communications, seemed very excited while talking about the upcoming Esquire issue. He said the magazine had given his company the chance to show the vehicle in a way nobody had imagined before. As this is "an industry first" and Ford has had a long series of barrier breaking releases, the event was said to be a perfect match for the brand.
