Eric Dane Speaks About His Battle With Skin Cancer

In the latest issue of OK! Magazine, Eric Dane who plays Dr. Mark Sloan in the TV series “Grey's Anatomy”, has spoken about his battle with skin cancer.

Shortly after New Years, Eric Danehas decided to consult a dermatologist, after he noticed an unusual patch of skin above his lips. The dermatologist said the patch is a malignant tissue caused by sun damage.

The doctor decided to freeze the cancerous cells with liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately, the actor had a severe reaction to a cream given to him after treatment.

“My skin is very sensitive," Eric Dane told OK!, "and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through.”
“I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight,” Eric Dane recalls. He dropped at least 10 pounds off his 6'1" frame while dealing with his cancer.

However, according to Access Hollywood, Eric Dane's rep called the story "a misrepresentation" as he did have malignant tissue removed, but he "does NOT have cancer".

Before his role in “Grey’s Anatomy”, the 35 year-old Eric Dane has acted as guest stars in various TV series such as “Charmed”, “Roseanne”, “Married with Children”, “Silk Stalkings”, and “Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane”.

In 2006, he played the role of Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox) in the movie “X-Men: The Last Stand”. Eric Dane was chosen as one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive for 2007.
