Cindy McCain, the wife of US Senator John McCain suffered a wrist sprain while campaigning on Wednesday.
She was shaking hands with supporters at a fundraiser with her husband at the Shenandoah Banquet, Golf and Conference Center in West Bloomfield, Michigan, when “an individual shook her hand very vigorously at the last event we were at and she has a minor sprain,” according to the republican senator.
She was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital, a local hospital, and treated for the injury. After she was X-rayed, doctors allowed Cindy McCain, 54, to leave the medical facility. She later rejoined the republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain on the campaign trail, wearing a blue cloth sling as a precaution.
“I shook hands with a very enthusiastic supporter and he got me the wrong way.” However, the victim of the fervent supporter was feeling fine, as she said.
Several years ago, Cindy McCain underwent surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and has sensitive arms. Nevertheless, the wrist sprain was minor.
Not only the reporters didn’t record the incident, but they didn’t even notice it, as they were focusing on her husband’s speech.
According to a statement from the campaign, "Out of an abundance of caution, she decided to leave the event and visit the local hospital for X-rays, where she was treated for a minor sprain. We appreciate everyone's concern, and she is back on the campaign trail now," the Los Angeles Times reported.
