Emma Watson was barely entering puberty when she starred in
the first Harry Potter film but she has grown and feels ready for grown-up film
choices, such as nude scenes in a Bernardo Bertolucci project.
Then again, there are plenty of actors, of all ages, who
would go naked in a Bernardo Bertolucci film. Such as Eva Green, Louis Garrel
and Michael Pitt in the 2003 French-English drama “The Dreamers,” which in the
meantime has developed a cult following.
Emma Watson, who turned 18 earlier this year, attended the Los Angeles premiere of
animated film “The Tale of Despereaux,” where she voices Princess Pea. Asked by
a magazine whether she would ever film nude scenes, the teenage star said she
would.
She said she would consider such a choice for a Bernardo
Bertolucci film but quickly added she did not have such a bold role anywhere in
the near future. The young actress also mused she is at a crossroads in her
life, “not a woman yet, but… not a girl any more” either.
This is apparently confusing for movie companies as well,
since they consider some roles perfect for her – but in a couple of years. The
complications ensuing from this situations concern her wish to study English in
college.
Emma Watson portrays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise
based on J. K. Rowling’s series of novels. “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood
Prince” will be released in 2009 while filming the two-part “The Deathly
Gallows” is to begin next year.
Watson’s non-Harry Potter related projects include TV movie
“Ballet Shows,” which aired last year, and the upcoming “The Tale of
Despereaux,” based on the book by Kate DiCamillo.
Watson’s co-star in the boy wizard films, Daniel Radcliffe,
19, has already moved on to more serious projects, starring in the play
“Equus,” where he portrays a troubled teenage stable boy and has nude scenes.
