Ellen Page Out Of Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell

The Oscar-nominee Ellen Page has dropped out of the upcoming movie “Drag Me To Hell” of Sam Raimi, the famous director of “The Evil Dead” and the “Spider-Man” trilogy.

The production of the new movie was scheduled to start on March 17, but Raimi's Ghost House Pictures and financier Mandate Pictures pushed back the date, due to a longer than anticipated pre-production process.

Because of a scheduling conflict, Ellen Page was forced to give up the role in the “Drag Me To Hell”.

Ellen Page has already lined up for two other movies produced by Mandate Pictures, the same company that financed “Juno”. She will star in “Whip It!,” the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore and in “Peacock”, a thriller also starring Cillian Murphy.

In “Peacock”, Murphy’s character, a split personality, fools the inhabitants of Peacock, Nebraska, into believing his two “alters” are man and wife. Ellen Page plays a struggling young mother who holds the key to his past and sparks a battle between the personalities.

However, it remains to be seen who will play the role of the woman who becomes the recipient of a supernatural curse in Raimi’s “Drag Me To Hell.”

Ellen Page was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in “Juno”, a quirky comedy on teen pregnancy. However, the award went to Marion Cotillard for her portrayal of  Edith Piaf in "La Vie En Rose". Though, “Juno” won the Academy Award for the Original Screenplay.

Ellen Page won Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards for her role in “Juno”.
