ABC’s "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck who became a mother for the second time on Friday, saved the best for Monday’s show.
Currently on maternity leave in Arizona where her hubby Tim Hasselbeck is a backup quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, rung up her co-hosts early Monday morning and talked the birth of her son, whose name she revealed to be Taylor Thomas.
As the 30-year-old mother-of-two jokingly told Whoopi Goldberg she was trying to hold out for her birthday, which is tomorrow, a slideshow of the newborn baby was showed on the screen.
"She loves him. She has him on her lap this morning," Hasselbeck said of her 2-year-old daughter Grace, who appears in a picture as she’s staring at her tiny brother.
When co-host Sherri Shepherd asked her is she was already back down to a size zero, the new mom joked, "I actually delivered him on a treadmill while watching ... President Bush," she joked.
Hasselbeck, who left her colleagues on October 23 to begin a two-and-a-half month maternity leave, is expected to return to her chair on “The View” in January.
"It was not easy to leave my co-hosts and our crew early," Elisabeth, who was supposed to leave in November, wrote in an e-mail earlier this week, "but it was more than clear to me that I want my family to be under the same roof when our baby arrived."
The baby arrived without complications on Friday at an Arizona hospital, weighting 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
"Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we’re thrill he arrived safely," the baby’s father and husband of the ex-"Survivor" star said in a statement. "Both mom and son are happy and healthy."
