ABC’s "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her husband, Arizona Cardinals player Tim Hasselbeck, welcomed their second child on Friday, ABC reported.
Weighting 7 pounds and 15 ounces, the baby was born without any complications at an Arizona hospital, a birth announcement released by the happy family said. The statement did not mention the baby’s name which will be revealed during Monday’s "View" when Hasselbeck will phone her co-hosts.
"Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we're thrill he arrived safely," Tim Hasselbeck said. "Both mom and son are happy and healthy."
The 30-year-old former reality TV show contestant and her 29-year-old husband, who have been married since July 2002, already have a 2-year-old daughter, Grace. She has since publicly expressed her desire to have another baby.
When announcing she was pregnant with her second child in April this year, Hasselback said she and her husband are "incredibly thankful and excited."
A self-proclaimed conservative, Hasselbeck said she found it really hard to go on maternity leave on October 23. She was initially scheduled to leave on November 9.
"It was not easy to leave my co-hosts and our crew early," Elisabeth Hasselbeck wrote in an e-mail earlier this week, "but it was more than clear to me that I want my family to be under the same roof when our baby arrived."
Following her stint on "Survivor" where she became the most popular contestant, Hasselbeck won a nationwide search in 2003 to replace Lisa Lang on "The View." She is famed for her on-air disagreements with former co-host Rosie O’Donnell and because of singer Barry Manilow’s rejection of her as an interviewer, on account of her conservative views.
