With the world deep in financial crisis, this is exactly the moment to start investing into new businesses that make good use of new ideas that promise to light up the future. As gasoline prices go up it seems that the best solution for our transportation needs is to start putting more work and research into the field of electric cars.
Electric cars have been around for a while, but they are still inferior to those that run on fossil fuels, lacking in power and speed and autonomy. It seems that the former chairman and CEO of Intel, one of the biggest chip manufacturers, has thought at electric car batteries a lot and he thinks that it would be a good deal for Intel to expand its business in this field.
The idea sounds bizarre to say the least, one of the biggest chip manufacturers also designing and producing batteries for electric cars, but this can be done, according to Grove.
Intel is known for producing and designing one of the most reliable microprocessors, chipsets and wireless chips, and has recently hit jackpot with its widely used Atom processor, used in netbooks. It’s all about timing it right, and even though Intel is not at its first attempt of expanding its business into other fields, the need for better, more powerful batteries for electric cars is pretty obvious.
Andy Grove expressed his idea of another business model for Intel in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, and it is now known if the plan has even been taken into consideration b the large company.
