Starting this Thursday the
popular music legend Eddie Van Halen is officially single. After seven years of
separation, Val Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli completed an amicable
divorce, which however took two years to end.
Although the couple had been
married since 1981, Valerie Bertinelli filed for divorce in December 2005, when she cited irreconcilable differences. The divorce suit came after five years of
separation.
Eddie Van Halen, 52, and Valerie
Bertinelli, 47, have one son, Wolfgang, who is currently on tour with his
father’s popular music band as bassist Michael Anthony’s replacement. The Los
Angeles Superior Court judgment didn’t offer details about the custody
arrangement for the former couple’s 16-year-old son.
Van Halen’s band, which is
currently in reunion tour, has sold 80 million albums
worldwide.
Valerie
Bertinelli starred in the TV series “Touched by An Angel” and “One Day at a
Time.” However, now that the divorce ended, the actress is expected to reveal
all about her battle with weight gain and depression and failed marriage to the
popular music player in her forthcoming memoirs. Earlier in 2007, Bertinelli
signed a deal with Simon & Schuster imprint Free Press to write Losing It:
And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time, which has been already set for a
February 2008 release.
"Writing a book is an
exciting new adventure for me. I've grown up in and out of the public eye,
survived some tough times, learned some important lessons, and come out — as
has my entire family — in a great place. I think it's a recipe for a good book.
Ironically, as there's less of me, I have more to say,” Valerie Bertinelli once
stated related to the upcoming book.
