The alleged father of Melanie Brown’s 2-month-old daughter, Eddie Murphy, has reportedly submitted to DNA testing to determine if he is indeed the baby’s dad.
According to the former Spice girl’s publicist, Natalie Whorms, the 46-year-old comedian "did indeed take a paternity test” to help determine the fatherhood of Angel Iris Murphy Brown.
The actor’s publicist, Arnold Robinson, refused to give any details saying he does not comment on Murphy’s personal life.
Scary Spice, also the mother of an 8-year-old daughter, and Murphy, who has five more children from previous relationships, dated for several months last year and broke up while Melanie Brown was five-month pregnant. Mel B insisted Murphy is the father of her child and listed him on the birth certificate while he is still denying her claims.
Last year, when asked about the baby’s paternity, Murphy told a television reporter: "And I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir."
Last week, British tabloid The Sun reported that Mel B submitted her daughter to DNA testing, and according to a source, "Mel knows the baby is Eddie’s and can’t believe it has got to this point where she has to force him to acknowledge there is a chance he could be the father."
The source adds: "At least this way they will know officially whether Eddie is the daddy or not and move on from there. This isn’t about the money, it’s about Angel knowing for sure who her dad is."
