The complete 28-film lineup for the 46th New York
Film Festival was announced on Tuesday by the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
The festival, due to run from September 26 to October 12,
will highlight much-talked about productions such as Laurent Cantet’s “The
Class” and Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling.”
As previously announced, French Palme d’Or winner “The
Class” will be the opening-night film. Much resembling a documentary, Cantet’s
drama depicts life in a severe French high school.
Furthermore, Eastwood’s “Changeling”, starring Angelina
Jolie as a single mother whose child is missing, will make its North American
debut as the centerpiece of the festival on October 4.
Darren Aronofsky’s drama “The Wrestler”, which stars Mickey
Rourke, will close the New York Festival on October 12. However, the film’s
director expects for his production to make its world premiere on September 5,
at the Venice International Film Festival.
Apart from “The Class,” other French productions include
Arnaud Desplechin’s “A Christmas Tale,” Agnes Jaoui’s “Let it Rain,” and
Olivier Assayas’ “Summer Hours.”
Moreover, a freshly restored print of Max Ophuls’ “Lola
Montes” will be screened as the spotlight retrospective, while other highlights
such as Steven Soderbergh’s “Che,” Wong Kar-Wai’s “Ashes of Time Redux” and
Mike Leigh’s “Happy-Go-Lucky” are also on the main slate of the festival.
The 28-film lineup will screen at the Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan. Tickets for
the event will go on sale on September 7 at noon at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center.
