ET Possibly “Victimized” in Jolie Birth Story

Entertainment Tonight confidently reported last week that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins. The actress’s lawyers irrefutably denied the story and ET is now saying, without completely retracting the story, that it may have been “victimized” by a charlatan and that it is “actively investigating” the issue.

Angelina Jolie supposedly gave birth to her twin babies last week. Entertainment Tonight reported the happy news on May 30, based on the confirmation of someone they supposed was Jolie’s longtime assistant, Holly Goline.

L.A. law firm Lavely & Singer, which represents the actress, responded to the growing vertigo surrounding her rumored birth-giving, explaining the person claiming to be Jolie’s assistant was in fact an impostor who had been releasing erroneous information “in a scheme to intentionally harm my client and deceive her fans, the public and the media,” the letter sent to various media outlets read, as quoted by E! Online.

Entertainment Tonight has meanwhile taken the story off the show’s website. It has not however formally retracted it. Entertainment Tonight is concerned though with the whole affair which it “takes very seriously,” a statement says.

Entertainment Tonight is also, “of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie’s team.” The show is “actively investigating the matter.”

In an attempt to reveal the charlatan pretending to be the Academy Award winner’s personal assistant – who may have sent throughout the past months who knows how many fallacious reports to the media – ET has also volunteered to collaborate with Jolie’s lawyers in their own investigation, the statement concludes.

Angelina Jolie, partner Brad Pitt and their four children were last seen in public, and amply photographed, at the Cannes Film Festival last month. Jolie was there for the premiere of her movies.

She received enthusiastic critical acclaim for her role in the Clint Eastwood-directed drama “Changeling” and had a bit of a laugh with her mischievous co-star Jack Black while talking about the animated film “Kung Fu Panda.”
