EA To Help Us Burn Calories With Sports Active For Wii

Spending an entire day hanging on to the Wii will soon prove to be just as ‘exhausting’ as going to the gym! At least that’s what the latest trend appears to be, as it results from Electronic Arts’ latest announcement.

The world witnessed Wii Fit and fell in love with it, but it’s time for a new player to step up the game. EA Sports announced its title for the next year, “EA Sports Active,” a personal trainer program designed to replace a workout at the gym with something just as efficient: a workout in the comfort of your living room.

Peter Moore, EA Sports president, explained that EA Sports Active will be very different from the Wii Fit, although it will still use the board in its exercises. But according to Moore, EA Sports Active will really make you sweat, and will give more of a Western feeling to exercising.

On such a competitive market, EA needed to come up with something not only to address a wider audience, but also to stand a chance against the popular Wii Fit. The best solution was to offer Wii players something different and exciting.

The interesting part is that is you hate going to the gym, or don’t feel comfortable with it, you can still exercise (there are 20 exercises to choose from), and you can bring a friend or a family member along, as the workout can also be done in two.

EA Sports Active is coming up next March, and will sell for $60. The developer said it also plans to include some peripherals. Well, I guess there’ll be plenty of time to get that rockin’ body in shape for the summer.
