The whole world is amazed by the last statement by
J.K.Rowling about one of the characters from her book being gay, Albus
Dumbledore. The news was revealed in New York Carnegie Hall on Friday after the
author was asked if Dumbledore who believed in the power of love had ever fallen
in love himself. "I always thought of Dumbledore as gay," she
replied, explaining that Dumbledore fell in love with his brilliant friend
Gellert Grindelwald, who later became a powerful dark wizard whom Dumbledore
defeated.
By letting that out, J.K. Rowling made herself once more
loved by all those who feared to say out in the open that they are gay. This
way, she seems to encourage gay people or the ones who believe that are gay to
see this orientation not as a problem for society or themselves and for the
ones with whom they have connections with. Gay people should come out of the
closet and believe in them and in what they are capable of, because being gay
is not making anyone being smarter or dumb, beautiful or ugly, capable or not
capable and normal people should accept that as a fact. They should be
integrated into society and seen as normal people too and not be judged because
of their sexual orientation.
By having a gay character with a positive role in a book for
children, J.K.Rowling made her message very clear. She tries to help people who
are gay to believe in what they are and to think that above all they are people
no matter what sexual orientation they might have. "The Potter books in
general are a prolonged argument for tolerance, a prolonged plea for an end to
bigotry," Rowling said during the Carnegie event.
J.K. Rowling has seemed to have achieved her finest moment
in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, as some fans and critics say. Although
the author has tied up all the winding plots that have been strewn throughout
the series, she has however left a world of wonders intact and rife for future
exploration.
In July, after the release of the last book from Harry Potter Saga, Rowling said
she "probably will" publish a Potter encyclopedia, from which fans would find
out many more details about their favorite characters, and also more news about
what would happen with the wizarding world, she would try to reach some sort of
closure. So, are there any other secrets that are to be revealed?
