In a statement released Thursday, actor David Duchovny
admitted he was in a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction. He also stated
that he had done this voluntarily. "I ask for respect and privacy for my
wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.” Duchovny
released this statement to People Magazine through his lawyer, Stanton Stein.
Duchovny's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the report. But
both of them refused to make any further statements.
The apple of the actor’s eye is definitely his wife, Tea
Leoni. "Before Téa, the longest my intense sexual interest would last
would be maybe two years," he said. "But the real rewards of a
relationship come after you've been together a while. That's where Téa and I
are lucky."
Duchovny, 48, and Leoni, 42, were married in 1997 and have
two children, Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6.
In “Californication” his character, Hank Moody, tries to
restrain himself when it comes to his insuppressible appetite for sex with
beautiful women. It now appears that Duchovny didn’t strive to build up a
character for this show. He has it in his blood. "Californication"
earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography and won a Golden Globe
for best comic actor. The show's second season begins September 28. The actor
appeared in the film "The X Files: I Want to Believe" earlier this
summer.
Showtime Network, which airs “Californication,” released an
encouraging statement: "All of us at Showtime wish David and his family
the best during this very private time."
