Academy Award-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has
been asked by presidential candidate Barack Obama’s representatives to sing the
national anthem on Thursday, August 28, the closing day of the 45th Democratic
National Convention in Denver.
On this occasion, Obama is set to formally accept the
Democratic Party presidential nomination for the forthcoming general election
in November.
Nevertheless, the “American Idol” contestant will not be the
only one waving the star spangled banner that night, since it is scheduled that
Bruce Springsteen close the aforementioned convention.
It seems that this autumn, Jennifer Hudson will harvest a
bountiful crop: her debut album “Jennifer Hudson” is due to come out September
30th and her new movie-“The Secret Life of Bees”- in which she stars alongside
Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning will be playing in theatres
starting October 17th .
The 26-year-old star is truly enthused by Obama’s proposal,
her representatives told People Magazine: “His reps called and said we'd love
for you to sing the anthem on Thursday. She's thrilled and excited. It's a
tremendous honor.”
Thus, the land of the free and the home of the brave lives,
once again, up to its name, catering for the hopes and dreams of its every
inhabitant. Even of an Oscar-winning one.
