The bailing of one of the girls involved in the brutal video
posted on YouTube is at this point all over the media.
Someone affiliated to Dr. Phil’s talk show staff decided to
pay the bail for one of the jailed teenagers. Phil McGraw's spokeswoman, Terri
Corigliano, confirmed the news Saturday and declared for the Associated Press:
"We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need
financial assistance to come on the show – assisting with clothing allowance,
lost wages, accommodations, travel and necessities," but added that
"In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines."
Phil McGraw, finding himself for the second time this year
in a rather unfortunate posture, announced that he has decided not to go
forward with the story. The first event that managed to put Dr. Phil on the
spot happened earlier this year when he visited Britney Spears at the
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. at her family’s request.
After their
meeting, McGraw gave a statement in which he explained that the 26-year-old pop
star badly required a medical and also a psychological intervention.
He was later quoted by USA Today saying, "I definitely
think if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't make any statement at
all. Period."
Returning to more recent events, it seems that the outcome for
this incident may have deeper repercussions on the show’s host, as people tend
to look at Dr. Phil with a certain reserve and the rumors concerning the show’s
future have been circulating for months now.
