Dr. Jan Adam's Practice "Horribly" Affected by Death of Donda Wes

Dr. Jan Adams, the plastic surgeon that operated on Kanye West’s mother before she died appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Tuesday and said his practice is close to being closed down.

The Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that operated on Donda West, late mother of singer Kanye West, was a guest on Larry King’s CNN show Tuesday night.

Adams told King that the bad publicity he received after the death of Mrs. West (he was widely considered to have been at fault and exposed as a surgeon who works without being board certified) has affected his practice “horribly” and that “it’s almost destroyed.”

Adams said he needed a second chance to defend himself and set the record straight. He explained to his host that as a television personality – he hosted the series “Plastic Surgery: Before and After” for five years - he is a target for bad publicity and lawsuits.

Adams also said he would continue to practice performing surgeries.

He would not go into the details of Donda West’s surgery and her death, citing doctor-patient confidentiality, but did say that the autopsy report did not surprise him.

A coroner's autopsy report found that West most likely died of heart disease coupled with complications after plastic surgery, but also said the exact cause of death couldn't be known. The 58-year-old died at a Los Angeles-area hospital Nov. 10, a day after she underwent breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction procedures.

“The autopsy said what I expected,” Adams laconically said.

Adams was invited on King’s show before but left within minutes, saying that he was not at liberty to discuss Donda West’s case. He said West’s family had asked him not to appear.
