Most of the corporate life now is highly dependable on computers and networks, making a virus one of the worst enemies a company might have. Windows operating systems have always been regarded as easy to hack and easy to get infected, adding the fact that most of the people use Windows a clever virus is definitely bad news.
Recently, a virus called Downadup has managed to infect 8 million computers and the number is still rising. The very sophisticated worm exploits multiple secure flaws in Microsoft's Windows OS's and it can run again every time the system is restarted.
The virus somehow manages to infect .exe files and it creates a new DLL file in Windows system folder with a random five letter name. The virus knows how to delete the last restore point created by resetting the system, and after it has the whole system under control, it starts downloading malware from different hacking sites.
The virus uses local networks in order to infect one machine after another. The virus can also spread via USB sticks, making it extremely dangerous. This feature surely allows the virus to spread more and more, currently being a threat to America, Asia and Europe.
Microsoft has a patch which protects against the Ethernet side of the attack and all companies are highly advised to use the patch in order to be better protected from the virus. Anti-virus companies are working on solutions to remove the malware from the machines and to find better protection.
