Real estate mogul Donald Trump is in fact not the world’s biggest tipper, it was revealed Friday, after reports earlier this week ‘proved’ he had left a $10,000 tip at a Santa Monica restaurant.
The website derober.com reported earlier this week that Donald Trump tried to outdo himself - and producer Jerry Bruckheimer – when the bill arrived. The Donald was at Santa Monica’s Buffalo Club and had to pay a $82.27 bill when he asked the waiter what his biggest tip ever had been.
When the man reportedly replied Jerry Bruckheimer once tipped him $500 on a $1,000 check, it was up to Trump to break the record. Derober.com even published a supposed copy of the MasterCard receipt.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that not only did Trump not leave such an enormous bonus – he wasn’t even in California Monday.
“This was done by the stupid restaurant to get publicity,” Trump told Page Six. “It's not my signature.”
While big tips of a financial nature may not be Trump’s thing, he is sure to start pouring the wise ones out as soon as the next season of “The Apprentice” debuts. The seventh season will be a celebrity version and will feature celebrity contestants who face diverse challenges for a good cause.
This time around, the opponents will be raising money for various charities throughout the competition.
NBC revealed in late November who the 14 famous participants would be. The most easily recognized are actor Stephen Baldwin, former model Carol Alt, country singer Trace Adkins, former “Taxi” star Marilu Henner, former “Sopranos” star Vincent “Big Pussy” Pastore, former Olympic medalist Nadia Comaneci, former heavyweight boxing champ Lennox Lewis, and KISS rocker Gene Simmons.
Earlier this week, Trump confirmed for the Hollywood Reporter that the following brands have signed up for integrations on “Celebrity Apprentice” this season: Kodak, Crocs, Dial Yogurt Body Wash, Quiznos, QVC, Nederlander, Pedigree and Serta by Vera Wang.
“We have a lot of really good sponsors, and traditionally 'The Apprentice' has been a tremendous show for selling products,” Trump was quoted by the Hollywood Reporter as saying. “Everybody that's been on 'The Apprentice' has said it was their most successful launch of a product, so we've literally turned down many, many people.”
