Businessman Donald Trump has offered to help TV personality
Ed McMahon by purchasing his mansion so that the financially strapped TV
personality can keep on living there, the Los Angeles Times reports.
McMahon, 85, has been living here since January 1990. The six-bedroom, five-bath home house has
been on the market for more than two years. The price of the mansion decreased
from a price of $7 million to $4.6 million last weekend, according to the same
source. But they don’t know how much Trump is actually paying.
The house is located in the area known as "Beverly
Hills Post Office," a portion of Los Angeles
whose residents are entitled to use a Beverly Hills
address and the 90210 ZIP code because their mail is processed in Beverly Hills.
Trump confessed he didn’t know the TV icon personally, but
he grew up watching his shows: "When I was at the Wharton School of
Business, I'd watch him every night," Trump added. "How could this
happen?"
McMahon suffers from a neck injury that has been giving him
a hard time for 18 months and thus he was unable to work. And he also had to
deal with a few divorces that exhausted him financially.
In 2002, McMahon and his wife were forced out of the house
because they claimed their dog was killed due to the mold. Los Angeles Times reports
McMahon received a $7.2 million settlement in that case.
The TV star was Johnny Carson's partner on the
"Tonight" show for three decades.
