We might not see him on "Lost" anymore, but actor Dominic Monaghan is going back to work in 20th Century Fox's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
The X-Men spin off, which traces the origins of Marvel Comics' famous mutant Wolverine, also known as Logan, is set 17 years before the "X-Men" movies. Monaghan will play Barnell, a mysterious character from Wolverine's military days who has the ability to manipulate energy and electricity, Variety reported.
Also new to the cast of the Gavin Hood-directed franchise picture is Daniel Henne who will play mutant marksman Agent Zero, a fellow member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal, mutant-enhanced marksman skills.
The two will join a star-studded cast, including Liev Schrieber (Sabretooth), Danny Huston (William Stryker), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am (Wraith), Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool).
Shooting for the flick is currently taking place in New Zealand, where Monaghan filmed "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy several years ago, Australia and New Orleans. The movie is set for a May 2009 release.
Monaghan's "Lost" character, Charlie, got killed in the last episode of the show's third season.
