Country singer Dolly Parton announced Monday she would have to postpone her scheduled North American tour due to health problems…something about some puppies?...
The 62-year-old entertainer was set to hit the road on February 28, with a concert in Minneapolis, the first of her 13-show tour, but the event has been postponed, she announced Monday.
Doctors recommended the veteran singer to take it easy for six to eight weeks and rest her sore back. Parton is suffering from back pains because of her impressive bust line.
“I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new ‘Backwoods Barbie’ CD and world tour together, but I didn’t mean to hurt myself doing it!” Dolly joked in a statement.
“But hey, you try wagging these puppies around awhile and see if you don’t have back problems.”
Later this month, Parton will release “Backwoods Babies,” her first album of mainstream country music in 17 years.
Publicist Marcee Rondan said Monday that she had no information on the nature of Parton’s back condition.
Parton was nevertheless her usual cherry self, adding that she hopes to kick off the tour in late April, by which time she will be “good as new.”
The country veteran has not announced any changes regarding her scheduled European tour, due to begin June 13 in Stockholm and run through a July 5-6 run at London's O2 Arena, her publicist said.
A message posted on her official website, www.dollypartonmusic.net, reads: “Dolly apologizes to all her fans for this inconvenience and hopes that her fans will be patient until the dates can be rescheduled for late April through May. Tickets will be honored for the new dates.”
