A video confirmed the fact that Dodi Fayed had bought an £11,600 engagement ring for Princess Diana a few hours before the tragic crash that led to their death occurred. Unfortunately he had no chance to give her the engagement ring.
The inquest jury was shown yesterday a grainy CCTV footage from the Repossi jeweler’s shop just across the square from the Ritz hotel in Paris which evidently displays the son of the Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed surrounded by staff as he was inspecting rings and then leaving with a brochure. He was not accompanied by the princess.
As a later footage viewed by the jury has showed, the assistant to the president of the Ritz hotel, where the couple was staying, entered the jewelry shop and took an item in a bag to the couple's room in the hotel's Imperial suite. The bag was put in the hotel strong room before the two went to Dodi's flat.
The bag with the ring was recovered from the couple’s room after their fatal accident. It was in scripted with the expression "Dis-moi Oui" ("Tell me Yes") and in the bag there was also a receipt dated August 30 1997.
The fact that Dodi and Princess Diana were about to get engaged, she was already carrying his child and the British secret service agents, following instructions from the Duke of Edinburgh, planned what would be an assassination, in order to prevent them from getting married, has been a key factor in of Mohamed Fayed's case.
