Sean “Diddy” Combs, 37, is now free of criminal charges over
an altercation with a man outside a New
York City hot spot, his lawyer Benjamin Brafman said
on Tuesday.
According to a statement of the New York Police Department
at that time, Comb was accused of being involved in a fight on October 13 around
3:30 inside Kiosk, a store located in New York‘s Soho neighborhood. Witnesses at
the fight told MTV News that Combs and a man named Steven Acevedo 31 had an argument
over a woman, which ended with the hip-hop mogul hitting the other one twice in
the face.
By that time, Combs denied punching the man in a statement
to Access Hollywood saying that things were blown out of proportion by the media.
“I got into an argument, I am a human being. I am going to get into an
argument. I am making no denial about that, but I did not punch anybody. Some times,
you get into an argument and as a celebrity, things are a little crazy, so
things get blown out of proportion. But no, I didn’t punch anybody.”
After an elaborate investigation Manhattan District Attorney’s
office informed Brafman that his client will not be arrested for this charge.
"I've been informed by the Manhattan
district attorney's office that after a thorough investigation, they have made
a decision not to authorize any arrests in connection with the incident
involving Mr. Combs and Steven Acevedo on October 13. I want to commend the
DA's office and the New York City Police Department for conducting a thorough
and very fair investigation into this incident and not allowing this private
disagreement between two acquaintances to turn into a criminal charge," he commented the decision for Access Hollywood.
