Surprisingly or not, Britney Spears may or may not have failed one of her court-ordered random alcohol and drug tests.

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ.com, the 25-year-old troubled singer, who must undergo mandatory drug and alcohol tests as part of an earlier court order relating to her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, tested positive for drugs last week.

However, the source quoted by the website also "maintains it was a false reading," and since Britney has been reportedly seeing a shrink as part of the ongoing custody battle, there was nothing found in any of the tests except prescription drugs cleared by the court doctor.

"The only thing that comes on the results are the prescriptions, that the court doctor prescribed," the source was quoted by TMZ as saying, adding that "There has been no illegal drugs or even alcohol in any of the test results."

During an emergency hearing last week, K-Fed’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan claimed Britney has missed eight out of 14 drugs tests as he tried to convince Los Angeles Court Commissioner Scott Gordon to restrict Britney’s driving privileges when the couple’s kids, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, are with her.

"We’re asking that she personally shouldn’t be the driver of the children," to protect their safety, Kaplan said.

Under the current custody arrangement, Britney gets to see her kids three times a week after she lost the custody to her ex-husband early last month.

"She lives in a parallel universe. Mr Federline doesn't want to take these children out of their mother's life but what are we to do?," Kaplan explained.

Responding to Kaplan’s accusations, Britney’s lawyer, Anne Kiley, said the drug tests ware "unconstitutional".

"Since October 5 there have been 10 negative drug tests, the idea that she needs to respond within the hour is meaningless. Is the issue that Britney Spears needs to get up at 8.30am and answer the phone? She's a pop star with a number one album. She is not up that early."

Just days after the court hearing, which didn’t favor any of the parties, Britney was spotted as she passed a red light while the kids were asleep on the backseat of her car.
