“Desperate Housewives” Returns with a New Story, the Same Characters

Even if it seemed that the last episode of “Desperate Housewives” changed the characters’ lives to a point where nobody had expected, Gaby, Lynette, Bree and Susan will continue their lives in the little neighborhood Wisteria Lane. Just as fans expected, “Desperate Housewives” will go on!

Lynette’s twins are facing problems with the police; Bree has forgiven Orson and is ready to publish her recipe book; Susan unexpectedly broke up with Mike and has found a new love. But the episode’s most important moment was the one which showed Gaby taking care of her spoiled girls, who were dressing up her dresses and were using her makeup. Yes, Gaby’s glamorous part is out of the show!

Marc Cherry, the creator and producer of the show, said that he had the “most glamorous cast in the story of television. There are so many stories that I couldn’t do because of that. Having Gaby at home taking care of two kids changes that a little.”

Even Eva Longoria Parker seems satisfied with the new changes of her character. “Looking frumpy lets me do other things. I’m happy not to play glamour for a while.” And that’s how Cherry’s plans to end the show after seven seasons led to an additional three seasons.

Cherry Alley Productions made more and more episodes about the four desperate housewives while more fans fell in love with the characters and the story. The last episode’s two-minute scene flashed forward five years of Bree, Susan, Lynette and Gaby’s stories, ending the fourth season of the show.

The next season will begin this fall and the producers have decided to show more of a housewife’s everyday life and not exaggerate about anything. That is what makes a story worth! Real life, real characters and good work to attract more fans make the spicy atmosphere and the greatest job ever!
