Dell officials have announced that the company has released a new mini-PC that allegedly consumes very little power and represents a very good choice for people who need to use as little space as possible for storing a desktop computer.
The new mini-PC, called Dell Studio Hybrid has an Intel Core 2 duo processor and comes with Windows Vista installed. As far as memory is concerned, the desktop has 2 GB of RAM, and has 250 GB of storage space, more than enough for a family PC. One of the cool things about it is that it comes with a Blu-Ray DVD player.
The Dell Studio Hybrid allegedly uses 70 percent less energy than a normal PC. This stands as a proof of Dell's decision to turn to more environmental friendly, energy effective products.
According to the ComputerWorld Magazine, Dell spokesman Michael Scheschuk said that “Our goal was to design a desktop that fits in the office or in the living room, or anywhere space is at a premium. We've created a desktop PC category that combines style, performance and a high degree of energy efficiency.”
The mini-PC will compete with Apple's Mac mini as well as with the devices in the HP Slimline series. As far as price is concerned, the Dell Studio Hybrid is less expensive that its Apple counterpart, putting it into a better position to compete for market share.
The price of the new mini-PC starts at $874 and varies according to the chosen configuration.
