Dell’s presence at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was highlighted by the launch of its brand new luxury laptop line called Adamo. In addition, the company also presented its 10 inch Inspiron mini-laptop, which will be available at a price of $99 through a two-year wireless broadband service contract with US carrier AT&T.
Dell’s officials didn’t provide many details, taking the laptop out of a bag just to show off its thin black case. "We're not going to have very much more to say about this today -- just kind of a little bit of a sneak peek," explained Michael Tatelman, VP of consumer sales and marketing at Dell, who did not disclose any information about what’s inside the device.
There was also a video presentation of the new Adamo, but it was created in the same vague manner, looking to keep the suspense high. According to the video information, the laptop is less than an inch thick and its screen measures 13 inches. There are several unofficial reports saying that the laptop supports three USB ports and an eSATA jack, helping users to plug in an external hard drive.
The prices for the new line represent another aspect unaddressed by Dell’s officials. Even though the people present were looking forward to hearing the complete set of features and prices, the company considered that it would be best to save them for another time. One of the concerns might be the release of this luxury line in such a dark economic moment.
