While some stars make headlines by having "sex tapes" released, actor David Hasselhoff had his own tape going on air and streaming online, showing him completely drunk while trying to eat a hamburger, and having his 16-year-old daughter, who reportedly made the tape three months ago, begging him not to drink anymore, or he’ll lose his job.
In response to the videotape which was aired by Extra, Entertainment Tonight and The Insider on Thursday, the former "Baywatch" star released a statement trying to explain why the tape shows him lying on the ground, shirtless and mumbling his words.
"I am a recovering alcoholic. Despite [the fact] that I have been going through a painful divorce and...have recently been separated from my children due to my work, I have been successfully dealing with my issue," Hasselhoff said.
Taylor Ann Hasselhoff, the actor’s older daughter, can be heard on the tape urging him to stop drinking or else he might get fired from a show he’s doing, "The Producers."
"Unfortunately, I did have a brief relapse, but part of recovery is relapse. Because of my honest and positive relationship with my children, who were concerned for my well-being, there was a tape made when I had a relapse to show me what I was like. I have seen the tape. I have learned from it, and I am back on my game. I thank God for the love and concern from my children," he added.
"The tape was never meant to become public, but got into the hands of individuals who are not worthy of mentioning, who maliciously released the tape for their own self purpose. I hope that someone else will learn from the tape, as I have," Hasselhoff explained.
The actor, 54, and his former wife, Pamela Bach, 43, got divorced last year after 16 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple also have a 14-year-old daughter, Hayley.
