The star from “X-Files”, actor
David Duchovny has a strange role in Showtime’s upcoming TV series
“Californication”. He will play the role of a once promising writer whose only
best work has turned into a silly but successful romantic comedy titled “A
Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. Hank Moody has found himself rich and famous,
but also suffering from writer’s block and living nothing else than a very
messy life. So, although David Duchovny has said that “Californication” is in
fact “about a guy trying to get his family back, really!” the show seems to
focus mainly on the Hank Moody’s trying to self-destroy himself than get his
family back together.
Moody is a drug addict, a
womanizer and he is not even able to escape his writer’s block, but maybe
Duchovny knows better what he’s been saying, as he is not only the star of the
show, but also its producer.
So, Hank Moody’s life has started
to become a mess when he has not been able to write anymore after publishing
“God Hates Us All”. This is his only acclaimed masterpiece, which, however
turns into a lightweight romantic comedy titled “A Crazy Little Thing Called
Love”. Although he wasn’t expecting for this thing to happen, the silly comedy
starring “Tom and Katie” makes him famous and very rich. But this won’t make
him also happy. He is just floating through life and “he can’t say no to
anything”, as David Duchovny says.
He will try to overcome his
writer’s block and to be a real father for his daughter too. He will even try
to win back her mother, who however has already engaged to another man. But all
these moves seem to fail and Moody keeps on self-destructing.
“Californication” will premiere
at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. “Californication” represents Duchovny’s return to
series and to Showtime, where he first appeared about 15 years ago as the
narrator of the “Red Shoe Diaries”. Duchovny has been also announced of
shooting alongside Gillian Anderson another theatrical “X-Files” film this
year.
