Longing for too much sex? Rehab is the answer.
“X-Files” star David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation
facility for sex addiction, his publicist has confirmed.
“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of
sex addiction,” the actor said in a statement released on Thursday by his
attorney, Stanton “Larry” Stein. “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and
children as we deal with this situation as a family.”
Coincidence or not, the 48-year-old actor won a Golden Globe
Award last year for impersonating Hank Moody, a womanizing, sex-obsessed writer
on Showtime’s “Californication.”
David Duchovny’s publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the report,
but refused to give further information upon the matter.
The actor, known best for playing FBI Special Agent Fox
Mulder on “The X-Files,” has been married to actress Téa Leoni
for more than 11 years. The couple has two children together, a 9-year-old
daughter Madelaine West and a 6-year-old son, Kyd Miller.
“All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best
during this very private time,” Richard Licata, the network’s executive vice
president of Corporate Communications said in a statement, according to E!
Online.
The second season of “Californication” is due to premiere on
September 28.
Nevertheless, this is not the first time David Duchovny’s
sex issues have been made public. In 1997, he said in an interview with
Playgirl that he was not a sex addict. “I have never been to those meetings.
It’s hurtful to my family and if I was involved with a woman in a monogamous
relationship, it would be hurtful to her.”
The most recent “X-Files” spin-off, “I Want to Believe,” starring
David Duchovny, opened in theaters earlier this summer.
