In a video posted on his newly opened website, David Cook, the winner of the lat edition of American Idol, has announced that his first album is scheduled to be released on November 18.

Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo, who is known for his work with Kid Rock and Green Day, will produce Cook’s debut album.

David Cook was crowned the seventh American Idol, with 56 percent of the total 97.5 million votes. During the interviews given after he won the “American Idol”, David Cook described his upcoming album as a “rock record”.

“Even if it doesn't do well commercially, as long as I can put out a record I am proud of -- that's the goal right now,” Cook said after winning American Idol.

David Cook gave some hints about the songs that are going to be on it, saying "It's going to be a mixture of my writing, and hopefully writing with some other people. But the bottom line is I just want to come out of the gate with a solid record, so if I can do that, I'll be happy."

In May this year, David Cook’s first single "The Time of My Life" was the number one download on iTunes. "The Time Of My Life" was written by Regie Hamm, the winner of the second American Idol Songwriting Competition.
