This year's Idol, bartender David Cook, has landed three songs in the iTunes Top 10. They are "The Time of My Life" at No. 1, "Dream Big" at No. 7 and his cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" at No. 10. Cook benefited from an updated deal with Apple to make all the finalists' songs available. Under the new deal effective this year, the winner's coronation song was made available during the same week it was performed.
The rocker confirmed Tuesday on "Live With Regis and Kelly" that he had a date with Season 2 Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell. She had been a fan of Cook all season, and he said he wanted to thank her by taking her out. When asked if he had a good time during the date, Cook said he did and added he would probably hang out with Caldwell again soon.
A reported 31.7 million people watched David Cook winning the season finale. David Cook was crowned the seventh American Idol, with 56 percent of the total 97.5 million votes. During the interviews given after he won the “American Idol”, David Cook described his upcoming album as a “rock record”. David Cook will release it later this year, but first he will go on American Idol’s tour, together with the other eleven contestants of the seventh season.
Meanwhile, runner-up David Archuleta, who most people thought will win American Idol's finale, said he will be making his musical career top priority. He apparently is not impressed with the many young girls who are all over him and is waiting for a more mature relationship.
