David Cook, one of the nine contestants from “American Idol”
is back on the show, after he was briefly hospitalized after Tuesday’s night
performance.
During Tuesday’s show, David Cook, which was recently
accused by rock-soul group out of Seattle
named Doxology that he sang their cover of "Eleanor Rigby" two weeks
ago without giving them any credit, sang Dolly Parton's “Little Sparrow” to
wide acclaim.
According to a source close to the show, quoted by The
Hollywood Reporter, it appears that David Cook has suffered an episode of high
blood pressure and he accused heart palpitations as well.
Los Angeles Times reported that he was released from the
hospital with a prescription for medication to lower his blood pressure. "He
is fine and not at the hospital," another show insider said for E! Online.
Ryan Seacrest, the host of “American Idol” confirmed in his
radio talk show that Cook was feeling sick after his performance. "I don't
know what he was stressed about. He said yesterday that his blood pressure was
high and he wanted to get checked out after the show.", Seacrest said for
his listeners.
David Cook is considered one of the main favorites of the
current edition of “American Idol”, which will end next month.
Update: In a live on-air interview with Ryan Seacrest, David Cook
announced that the arrangement of Eleanor Rigby (performed on the American Idol
episode on March 11th) was that of Seattle
band Doxology. The band was in rehearsal
for their upcoming show on Thursday, when they took a break to watch the show
and heard the unexpected yet highly anticipated news.
“Re-imagining the Beatles is always tough. We worked very hard to do it in a fresh and new way. The band and I were thrilled to hear the mention tonight. We have to give a lot of credit to the folks at 19 Entertainment, and American Idol for working with our management; their mutual commitment to fix this issue was great; the support throughout has been amazing. And, most important we gotta give David Cook massive props", said Luke McPherson, Doxology front man.
"We all just wanted the same thing here, and that was simply to 'right' the situation from a few weeks back. David did that on Idol tonight and we thank him for that. Now, we're excited to just move on and continue recording the new album we are working on”, McPherson added.
