The consequences of his “American Idol” victory are starting
to show for David Cook. The rocker confirmed Tuesday on "Live With Regis
and Kelly" that he had a date with Season 2 Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell.
Cook said he had the opportunity to ask out the “Idol
Tonight” co-host during a broadcast of her show last Wednesday.
"I'm just excited because I finally get to actually
talk to you," Cook, whose confidence was certainly boosted by his recent
victory, said on the show. "So I'm actually going to ask you out to dinner
right now."
Caldwell apparently was pleasantly surprised, accepting the
invitation and kissing Cook on the cheek. She had been a fan of Cook all season,
and he said he wanted to thank her by taking her out.
When asked if he had a good time during the date, Cook said
he did and added he would probably hang out with Caldwell again soon.
Cook, from Blue Springs, Mo., defeated tween David Archuleta
last week, a result that surprised everyone, as Archie’s victory seemed almost
sure. As the show went on, his increasing confidence made him seem irresistible
for most of the female public, who probably think of Caldwell as a very lucky
girl.
