Who knew George Clooney and David Beckham were BFFs?
Apparently, they’re not exactly that close. Contrary to recent reports claiming that David Beckham moved into George Clooney’s Italian bachelor pad during his loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy to Italian club AC Milan, the actor’s rep said the soccer star hasn’t been living at Clooney’s Lake Como villa.
“One hundred percent not true,” the spokesperson told Access Hollywood regarding the rumors. “George is filming in America at this time. He is not renting the house to anyone, and that would include David.”
It was reported by Hello! magazine earlier this week that Beckham was borrowing Clooney’s $8 million Italian mansion to “unwind” as his stint at AC Milan continues.
A source in Italy had reportedly told Hello! Magazine that “George has really taken David under his wing since the transfer trouble started. At the house, David is able to get away from everything, relax and switch off in private.”
In the meantime, Beckham is expected back in Los Angeles by March 9 for training camp with the Galaxy, while Clooney recently filmed a March 12 episode of NBC's “ER,” in which he returned as Dr. Doug Ross for the long-running medical drama’s final season.
Earlier in the week, the actor was in serious but gracious spirits talking to Larry King about his trip to Darfur and meetings with the President and Vice President.
According to Hello, the two became friends after being introduced by designer Giorgio Armani at last year's Met Ball in New York.
The 33-year-old soccer superstar has previously spoken of his admiration for Clooney, admitting the 47-year-old actor’s handsome looks helped him come to terms with his own greying hair.
“I've noticed a bit of grey, but as long as it's George Clooney grey I don't mind. George is one of the most handsome men in the world,” he said.
