There’s only one more week to go until “Dancing With the
Stars” sees its last four couples compete for the top prize and Brooke Burke
and Warren Sapp seem to shine most even when it comes to solo swaying.
On Monday night’s show, the “stars” were asked to perform a
15-second solo during the Latin dance of the evening, which ensued, evidently,
the long-established ballroom number.
Brooke Burke and her partner, Derek Hough, obtained the best
score of the show, reaching a total of 55 points, by performing mambo and
tango, followed by Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson, who received 54 points for
their tango and jive.
Brooke and Derek had a very interesting tango performance,
which judge Bruno Tonioli called an “epic drama played on a grand scale” and
Carrie Ann Inaba praised as well, saying that Brooke’s dancing was “beyond
phenomenal.” Len Goodman, nevertheless, pointed out some minuses, explaining
that the performance included numerous technical problems and offering the
couple an 8, along with the 10s from the other two members of the jury. Passing
on to the pair’s mambo, Brooke had quite a solo going on in there. Bruno said
it was so energetic “it could revive the dead,” while Carrie Ann criticized
Brooke’s uncomfortable position.
Lance Bass and Lacey Scwimmer obtained a total of 50 points for
their foxtrot and samba, while Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke got 48 points for
their quickstep and paso doble, the same score Cody Linley and Edyta Sliwinska
received for foxtrot and mambo.
