As the
season finale approaches, fans of the popular competition show “Dancing With
The Stars” are holding their breath to see if it will be Brooke Burke or
not to win this seventh season. Burke, a 37-year-old model-actress, along with
her partner Derek Hough, American dancer and choreographer, dazzled both the
audience and the judges Monday night, scoring 58 out of 60 points.
Brooke Burke’s freestyle routine performance to „You're the
One That I Want” from the movie „Grease” left everybody dumb with astonishment
and made head judge Len Goodman to reveal that he had just seen the best
freestyle performance.
She received a perfect score of 30 for the routine from the
judges, which proved yet again that Burke has owned the show from the very
beginning. Since the seventh season began, Brooke Burke has come in first in
the dancing competition seven out of nine times, got the highest score (10) 13
times and has upheld an average score of 28 throughout the show’s rounds.
„DWTS” other finalists, former 'N Sync member Lance Bass and
partner Lacey Schwimmer and former NFL player Warren Sapp, alongside partner Kym
Johnson, received 53 out of 60 points during Monday night’s show. Bass and Schwimmer
performed a hip-hop routine to Run-DMC's „It’s tricky,” while Sapp and Johnson brought
in their dancing A game on Ike and Tina Turner's „Proud Mary.”
The competition’s winner will be announced Thursday night, after
the finalists perform their last dance on the show and the judges’ scores
are combined with viewers' votes to determine the seventh season’s champion. During
the two-hour long season finale, the couples that have been eliminated so far
are scheduled to return to the show for performances. Former contestants
include actor Cody Linley, former sprinter Maurice Greene, actresses Susan
Lucci and Cloris Leachman, singer Toni Braxton, chef Rocco DiSpirito, reality
TV star Kim Kardashian, actor Ted McGinley and comedian Jeffrey Ross.
The seventh season of DWTS premiered on September 22, 2008
and it was the first one to feature 13 couples instead of 12. Moreover, it also
brought forth new dances such as the Hustle, the Salsa, the Jitterbug and the West
Coast Swing, along with Team
Dancing.
The ABC show’s hosts are Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, who
have served as DTWS hosts for the previous seasons, as well.
As for the judges, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann
Inaba returned to review the contestants’ performances, while Michael Flatley was featured on week six of the
show as a guest judge for Len Goodman.
The sixth
season’s champions were American figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and partner professional ballroom dancer on the show Mark Ballas. Kristi
thus became the first woman to win the DTWS competition since American
model-actress Kelly Monaco in the show’s first season. Kristi and Mark Ballas
also managed to finish with the highest average score in the show’s history,
28.3, with six consecutive weeks and 8 out of 10 weeks as the competition’s
leaders, which was also a record.
As for
their lowest score on a dance, it was 26 out of 30.
