Dancing Stars Announced

ABC is getting ready for its new season of “Dancing with the Stars” and plenty of famous people are willing to strut their stuff on the show: singer Marie Osmond, actress Jane Seymour and boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, among others.

“Dancing with the Stars,” the ABC reality series that features celebrities and ballroom dancing professionals compete on the dance floor, was widely successful in the U.S. Last season, the only other show to have more viewers that “Dancing” was “American Idol.”

The network announced Wednesday that several more celebrities have agreed to appear on the upcoming season, which starts airing September 24.

Melanie Brown, also known as Scary Spice of the famous 1990s girl group Spice Girls, will have Maksim Chmerkovskiy as a partner, according to the network’s official website.

Melanie will also reunite with the rest of the Spice Girls this December and embark on a world tour that includes dates in Los Angeles and New York in the U.S., Beijing and Honk Kong in China, as well as Sydney, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa.

Marie Osmond, a member of the famous Osmond family that enjoyed great success in the 1970s with its music and television shows, will also treat viewers with her dancing moves, as well as former “Beverly Hills 90210” star Jennie Garth and Brazilian car racing champion Helio Castroneves.

The fifth season of dancing with the stars will feature Jane Seymour, of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” fame and boxing champion Floyd Mayweather.

Singer Wayne Newton, dubbed Mr. Las Vegas, now in his ‘60s, will also participate, as well as Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan and model/actress Josie Maran.

This season’s new cast of dancing celebrities is rounded up with Dallas Mavericks basketball team owner Mark Cuban, male model Albert Reed and “All My Children” actor Cameron Mathison.

ABC promises stellar performance from Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan and Avril Lavigne in the weeks to come. The show will be hosted by Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, with Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli reprising their roles as judges.
