Viewers of ABC’s “Dancing with the Star” show probably gasped Monday night when Marie Osmond collapsed after performing the samba.
Marie Osmond and dancer Jonathan Roberts had just finished performing the samba during Monday’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” and were receiving feedback from the three judges when Osmond suddenly fainted.
Commercials promptly started and the show returned minutes later. Host Tom Bergeron reassured viewers that Osmond was fine. “The first words out of her mouth when she saw us all standing over her were, ‘Oh crap,’” he said.
Marie Osmond herself explained later during the show, “Once in a while, that happens to me when I get winded. I stop breathing.”
Her effort Monday night was well appreciated by judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Each of the three awarded the pair seven points out of 10.
The 48-year-old singer and actress, member of the show business family, The Osmonds, became a celebrity dance contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” on the show’s fifth season. She joins celebrity dancing competitors such as actresses Jane Seymour and Jennie Garth, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather and Spice Girls member Melanie Brown.
Earlier this year, Osmond announced that she and her husband of nearly 20 years, record producer Brian Blosil, were divorcing. The two married in 1986 and have raised nine children. One is from Osmond’s first marriage and five children were adopted during the second one. Osmond’s children vary in age, with the eldest being 24 and the youngest 5.
Marie Osmond is famous for her successful doll collection. She herself designs them and debuted her own line of collectible dolls in 1991. She has written books on dolls, crafting and cooking. A new Christmas CD titled “Magic of Christmas” will be available in stores October 2007
