Entertainer and celebrated doll maker Marie Osmond was so inspired by her experience on the “Dancing with the Stars” show that she has created four new dancing dolls.
Marie Osmond, 48, was eliminated in the very last week of season five of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” after surviving heroically on the show, propelled by hard work and countless votes from her loyal fans.
While she did not take home the coveted mirror ball trophy, she did take home inspiration for several new dolls. The brand new limited collection she presented on shopping channel QVC on Thursday night includes dolls dressed in replicas of the costumes she wore on the show: the Boogie Woogie doll, the Paso Doble doll, the Quickstep doll and the Freestyle doll.
The first two dolls in the collection (the samba doll and the fox trot doll) sold out in eight minutes on QVC during an earlier auction, reports People magazine on its website.
The 12-inch Adora Belle porcelain dolls, sculpted by Marie Osmond, can be ordered from QVC's website for close to $100, shipping and handling not included. Each doll is accompanied by a stand.
Marie debuted her doll line on QVC in 1991. She expanded the business last year, when she launched an embroidery machine line, a sewing machine line, and embroidery designs.
Though Marie went through more than a fainting spell during the show – her 90-year-old father died and then her 16-year-old don checked into rehab for undisclosed issues - the veteran entertainer is moving forward.
She kicks off her winter holiday concert tour on November 30 in Shippensburg, Penn. In January she will reunite with partner Jonathan Roberts for Dancing with the Stars - The Tour.
This season’s dancing winner was two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves, who partnered with professional dancer Julianne Hough.
Other competitors on this season’s competition were “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” actress Jane Seymour, soap actor Cameron Mathison, “90210, Beverly Hills” actress Jennie Garth, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Cheetah Girls member Sabrina Bryan, among others.
