The legal thriller “Damages,” starring Glenn Close as litigator Patty Hewes, has finally reached its second season, more than a year after the first one, consisting of 13 complex and rife with mysteries episodes, ended.
Scheduled for a Wednesday debut, the second season brings forth some new cast members, such as Close’s „Big Chill” co-star William Hurt as Patty Hewes’ new client and Marcia Gay Harden, which is bound to add more intricacy to the TV show’s already twisted plot.
Moreover, Ted Danson, whose character Arthur Frobisher was shot at the end of the first season, makes a surprising comeback, along with Tate Donovan, who portrays Hewes’ business partner Tom Shayes and has also returned for the second season.
As for Patty Hewes’ apprentice Ellen Parsons, played by Rose Byrne, she has undergone a major transformation from the naive rookie lawyer to a cynical woman whose only purpose is to exact revenge on her former boss. And she has good reason to do so, since Hewes tried (and of course, failed) to kill her during the first season, while her fiance was murdered by the evil billionaire Arthur Frobisher.
Now working for the FBI as an informant, Ellen takes part in an investigation focusing on Patty Hewes’ firm and tries to find ways to take her down by all means, whereas Frobisher is also likely to become one of her targets.
Last year, the „Damages” TV show earned a number of awards, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Glenn Close’s performance as the ruthless litigator.
